Surprisingly, I have a lot of people ask me if I photograph portraits. And the answer is a resounding yes, yes and more YES! Portraits are so special to me - there's nothing better than being able to get to know a senior in high school at such an exciting time in their life, have a great connection with them, and make an image that captures their real personality. I'm not kidding when I say I live for that. It's one of the main reasons I love being a photographer.
Senior portrait photography is particularly meaningful because not only does it capture YOU, it captures place, too. Take a moment - look around you and say, "Look at where we live!" We've got beautiful, natural backdrops in abundance, and I thrive on being able to photograph people in places they love, whether that's in the great outdoors or in their home.
Pulling from my background as a photojournalist, I am always looking for real moments within my portraiture - those laughs, that crinkle of the nose, your soft smile. That's what makes me tick. My style is definitely more of the documentary and lifestyle feel - capturing life as it happens, focusing on those vivid, real moments - because that's where the magic happens.
So, if you find yourself dreaming of someone capturing your real smile (not that forced one that a lot of us make - myself included!), and would like to meet with me, please send me a note. I'm more than happy to meet with you in my sweet little home-studio in Missoula, over the phone, or via the magic of the Internet.
